Kathmandu: Senior advocate Kusum Shrestha has passed away at the age of 83. Shrestha who was admitted to the Thapathali-based Norvic International Hospital after he complained of breathing difficulty died at 5:35 am today his family source said.

Shrestha was born in Bandipur of Tanahu and had received the LLB degree from Kolkata of India. He was the first president of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), Supreme Court unit and had served as the NBS chairperson also.
He has various books and articles about law in his name. Shrestha as a legal practitioner had pleaded in favour of the then democratic leaders including BP Koirala during the Panchayat regime.

Administrative Court Nepal chair Kashiraj Dahal said Shrestha had, as a professional and responsible law practitioner, played an important role in the development of law education and constitutional development at home. He is survived by his spouse, one daughter and three sons.
