Today the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu organized the Closing / Prize Distribution Ceremony of “8th Edition of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament-2023”. The event was started on 10th March 2023 and twelve teams participated in this Tournament.
Honourable Mr. Ramesh Nath Pandey, former Foreign Minister of Nepal was the Chief Guest of the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Honourable Chief Guest awarded the “Himalaya Shumsher Rana Trophy” to the winning team of the Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament.
This year, Pulsar Cricket Excellence Center, Kathmandu won the 8th Edition of Nepal-Pakistan T20 Cricket Tournament-2023, while Embassy of Pakistan Team was the Tournament’s Runner-up.
H.E. Mr. Chen Song, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Kathmandu also graced the event as the Special Guest. Mr. Ram Prasad Subedi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kathmandu and few members of diplomatic Missions based in Kathmandu were also attended the event as Special Guests, which includes, Charge d` Affaires (a.i.) of Sri Lanka, Deputy Chief of Missions of Bangladesh and Qatar. Special Guests also presented the prizes to prominent players and officials of the T20 Cricket Tournament.
Addressing the Ceremony, Honourable Mr. Pandey lauded the Pakistan Embassy’s initiative for successfully organizing the event. He added that organization of these healthy events will not only enhance sports activities in Nepal but also strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
In his remarks, Charge d` Affaires (a.i.), Mr. Umair Ali expressed the hope that this tournament will serve as a stepping stone towards greater cooperation and collaboration between Pakistan and Nepal in all areas of mutual interest. He reiterated the Pakistan Embassy’s commitment to continue to encourage efforts to bring the youths of two countries together by organizing such healthy sports events. Mr. Ali thanked the distinguished guests for their valuable presence in the ceremony, and the Nepalese government for their support in organizing this successful event.
